Are Lumber Prices Going Down?

Yes, lumber prices have already started to fall.

The futures price started falling in 3/7/22 and has continued to fall since then.

The lumber market is very seasonal, so prices typically start to fall this time of year anyway.

But the bigger story is that lumber prices have been falling more than they typically do at this time of year.

Why?

There are a few reasons:

– The U.S. housing market is slowing down. This means that lumber demand is falling.

– The U.S. dollar has been getting stronger lately. This makes lumber more expensive for buyers using other currencies, so they’re buying less of it.

– There’s been a big increase in lumber production recently, thanks to all the new sawmills that have opened up.

What Are The Current Lumber Prices?

As of 6/13/22 the lumber futures price is $555.90 per thousand board feet.
