Types Of Sandpaper

Aluminum Oxide Sandpaper:

If you’re looking for a versatile type of sandpaper that can be used on a variety of surfaces, aluminum oxide sandpaper is a good option. It’s made with particles of aluminum oxide, which are sharp and durable. This makes it ideal for sanding wood, metal, plastic, and fiberglass. Aluminum oxide sandpaper comes in a variety of grits, so you can choose the one that’s right for your project.

Garnet Sandpaper:

Garnet sandpaper is made with particles of garnet, a semiprecious stone. It’s a good choice for sanding wood, because it doesn’t clog up as easily as other types of sandpaper and it produces a smooth finish. Garnet sandpaper comes in different grits, so you can choose the one that’s right for your project.

Ceramic Sandpaper:

Ceramic sandpaper is made with particles of ceramic, which are sharp and durable. This makes it a good choice for sanding metal, plastic, and fiberglass. Ceramic sandpaper comes in a variety of grits, so you can choose the one that’s right for your project.

How To Make Sandpaper

You’ll need a few supplies before you get started making your own sandpaper. First, gather some abrasive material.

This can be anything from sand to crushed glass. Next, find a backing material. This will be what the abrasive is glued to and will determine how durable your sandpaper is. Common backing materials include cloth, paper, and plastic. Finally, you’ll need an adhesive to glue the abrasive to the backing material. Once you have all of your supplies, follow these steps to make your own sandpaper.

Start by cutting the backing material into strips that are slightly smaller than the desired final size of your sandpaper. Then, cut the abrasive material into strips that are slightly smaller than the backing material. Next, apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of one strip of abrasive material. Then, adhere this strip to one end of a strip of backing material. Repeat this process until all of the strips are used up. Finally, trim off any excess backing material and you’re done!
